GSTT was formed in 1990. There are now 180 members, including 63 Corporate Members. The Society stages many conferences, seminars and exhibitions either directly or in conjunction with other organisations. International NO-DIG 91 Hamburg, NO-DIG 95 Dresden and NO-DIG HAMBURG 2004 were hosted by GSTT. Much attention has been given to research with the support of the Federal Ministry of Research & Technology, particularly in relation to Sewerage and Utility Tunnels.
