40th Anniversary Messages

ISTT is an example of beneficial international cooperation to share information and technology developments across national borders in a highly competitive environment. This is brought about by the nature of the individuals who comprise the society through its council, trustees, and committees. In my seven years as Executive Director, I experienced this cooperation, along with good-natured friendship and respect. Here's to the next 40 years.

What does ISTT mean to me? A guide in trenchless policy from early years of our business in 9O-ties. Participation on couple of conferences and events with always warm atmosphere. Conference calls and suffering there because of lack knowledge of people and English words. Meeting nice and inspiring people like Kyoko, Dec, John (Castle), Matthew, Andrzej, Yann, Pierro (Berardi), this Winter also Mark Andre - that for sure. That, probabely above everything else. A feeling to belong to a broad family with similar understanding and common goals. Knowledge or at least a hope, that I can - if I need - to contact anybody in the world, and try to ask for some reasonable help or assistance, like I am just planning to do in Singapore. Last, but not least - memories to my Czech fellows who had provided the link to ISTT before me - Stan, Jiři, and Stan II. Great pleasure and gratitude to be part of this exciting adventure. All the best to ISTT, congratulations to this beautiful anniversary, and let us keep the spirit for years ahead.

For NoDig Infra, ISTT means international friendship, collaboration, and the exchange of experience and expertise.

We have been part of the journey from the beginning as SSTT (Scandinavian Society for Trenchless Technology), held the ISTT chairmanship back in 1999, hosted No-Dig International in Copenhagen in 1994 and 2002, and joined several conferences with Danish delegations.

A 40th Anniversary Message from the Southern African Society for Trenchless Technology (SASTT)

Dear friends and colleagues at ISTT,

Forty years. That's a milestone worth pausing on. From a bold idea in 1986 to a genuine global community, ISTT has spent four decades changing how the world builds and maintains what lies beneath our feet. Congratulations from all of us in Southern Africa.

What does ISTT mean to us?

For SASTT, ISTT means belonging to something bigger than ourselves. Trenchless work can feel like a niche pursuit from the tip of Africa, but ISTT has never let us feel far from the heart of it. It's the network we turn to, the standard we measure against, and the community we join at every No-Dig gathering.

We remember hosting the world in Cape Town in 2018 with real pride — and we can't wait to welcome you all back to our shores in 2028.

So here's to 40 years of digging less and achieving more. Thank you for the community you've built and the future you keep helping us imagine.
