Germany

The German Association for Trenchless Technology is the new voice for trenchless construction and maintenance of pipelines. Our goal is to strengthen these technologies in Germany and beyond in technical, economic, and political terms.

We are not only thinking about technical standards, but also about the major challenges of our time: climate protection, sustainability, and the efficient use of resources. Trenchless construction methods can make an important contribution here – we want to demonstrate this, communicate it and develop it further together.

Around 200 members from the former RSV and GSTT now form the foundation of the GATT (German Association for Trenchless Technology). The merger is the result of specific work assignments and resolutions passed by both members' meetings with the aim of combining expertise and working together to further develop the industry.

The association brings together a wide range of perspectives: contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, engineering firms, network operators, local authorities, and other service providers who are helping to shape trenchless construction and rehabilitation

The NSTT (Netherlands Society for Trenchless Technology) covers over 200 companies, (government) agencies and people involved with trenchless techniques in The Netherlands and Belgium. Knowledge-driven and willing to make social impact they all stand together for enhancing trenchless technology.

The NSTT combines the trenchless techniques with four of the biggest challenges of today: sustainability, energy-transition, less inconvenience and the urgent housing shortage. NSTT provides knowledge, facts and figures to meet these challenges in a trenchless way. Of course all this is related to the special geological and spatial characteristics of the Delta-lands we're living in.

The NSTT unites our members: the questions and challenges of our principals and governments, the scientific knowledge from our institutes and the practical experience from our engineers, constructors and manufacturers. We believe in one-way spreading of knowledge by lectures, webinars, publications et cetera but also (and perhaps more important) we believe in exchanging experiences and contacts in live-meetings and events with our members. Because Trenchless means Together.

NSTT is founded in 1988. It has hosted the ISTT No-Dig in 1993 and 2005, both Events happening in the port of Rotterdam.

A few activities of our society

  • Each two years NSTT organizes the NSTT No-Dig Event. The next NSTT No-Dig Event will take place October 8 and 9, 2025.
  • Every year NSTT awards two prizes: the NSTT No-Dig Award (by jury, with focus on technical development and social impact) and the NSTT Publieksprijs (by voting, with focus on public outreach).
  • NSTT provides the digital Platform Veilig Sleufloos (Platform Safe Trenchless), for exchanging safety-incidents, developing safety instruments and so starting the learning curve for even safer techniques
  • and of course our meetings, seminars, website, publications and presentations, newsletters et cetera

The Southern African Society for Trenchless Technology (SASTT) was established in 1992 in Pretoria, South Africa, with the mission to promote the use of trenchless technology (TT) as a sustainable and efficient approach to underground infrastructure development and maintenance. This innovative technology minimizes surface disruption and environmental impact while providing cost-effective solutions for the installation and rehabilitation of underground services. SASTT operates as an ethical, neutral platform to advance the adoption of TT by offering technical resources, training, advocacy, and support for professionals, asset owners, and municipalities. The society also aligns itself with global developments through its affiliation with the International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT), reflecting its commitment to global best practices and innovation.

In 2011, SASTT demonstrated its leadership in the field by hosting a master class on trenchless technology in collaboration with No-Dig South Africa. A second similar No-Dig South Africa and Masterclass was held in 2014. This was followed by hosting the prestigious international No-Dig Conference in Cape Town in 2018, cementing SASTT's position as the regional hub for trenchless innovation. The Society draws its members from diverse sectors, including municipalities, consultants, contractors, and suppliers, fostering a collaborative environment. As the gateway to Africa, SASTT is committed to expanding the adoption of trenchless technology across Southern Africa, driving sustainable infrastructure solutions throughout the region.
